Southern California is one of the most congested and dangerous places to drive in the United States. Congestion and accidents are made worse by the millions of cars on the roads daily, and several of Southern California’s roadways are among the most important in the state. Additionally, due to the higher top speeds that can be attained on the highway, it is often the most preferred means of transportation.
However, since vehicles on these highways and interstates have less time to react to sudden changes in road conditions or dangers, accidents involving significant injuries are more likely to occur at higher speeds. Distracted driving, texting while driving, intoxicated driving, drowsy driving, fatigued driving, following too closely, and not following traffic laws are other major contributors to car accidents in the Golden State.
