Fountain Valley, CA – Man Killed, One Hospitalized After Two-Car Accident at Euclid St & Slater Ave

Fountain Valley, CA (February 27, 2023) – On late Sunday afternoon in Fountain Valley, a two-car collision claimed one man’s life, according to authorities.

Per a press release from the Fountain Valley Police Department, an officer witnessed the tragic traffic crash near the junction of Euclid Street and Slater Avenue at around 4:50 p.m. on Monday.

A white 2008 Dodge Caravan was apparently turning left from the southbound lanes of Euclid onto Slater when it was struck by a white 2022 Toyota Camry driving north on Euclid. The driver of the Camry, a 51-year-old Costa Mesa man, was able to be freed when more police officers arrived on the scene. The car was on fire, police added.

Authorities also say that the victim was brought to a nearby hospital to be treated for “severe” head injuries. Meanwhile, a 55-year-old man, the Caravan’s driver, was declared deceased on the scene.

Police officers in Fountain Valley are still looking into the incident. Alcohol or drug use might have contributed to the crash, though this has not been confirmed, and witnesses are requested to contact the traffic bureau of the Fountain Valley Police Department if they have additional information.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased man. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.

Car Accidents in California

The National Highway Traffic Safety Agency reported 3,606 fatal motor vehicle events and 3,316 automobile accidents in its annual traffic statistics for 2019. Only Texas had more deaths in 2019 (3,615) from 3,294 fatal collisions. Moreover, according to statistics from the preceding four years, there were 3,606 fatal vehicle accidents in California in 2019, 3,798 in 2018, 3,884 in 2017, and 3,837 in 2016.

Even if you don’t think a vehicle accident significantly hurt you, you should always be checked out at a local hospital or by a qualified medical professional. Even a seemingly slight injury may significantly influence a person’s life if it is not properly addressed. Regrettably, many accident victims decide not to seek medical attention for their injuries. So, people are deprived of the chance to eventually file a personal injury claim and get fair recompense for their suffering.

The injuries sustained in the collision may significantly impact the victim’s general health and well-being. Cuts and bruises are almost often a byproduct of accidents, but regrettably, the wounds that are directly attributable to the incident are almost always far more severe.
