Garden Grove, CA (November 13, 2022) – On Friday morning, November 11, a multi-car accident was reported in Garden Grove that resulted in the tragic death of one person.
According to officials, the accident occurred in the morning, around 12:45 a.m. The accident occurred when a driver in a Tesla was speeding and allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs when the driver lost control of their vehicle and smashed into two other vehicles at the intersection of Garden Grove Boulevard and Magnolia Street.
The impact of the vehicles was so forceful that it severely damaged the involved vehicles and caused an engine from one of the cars to fly out and land on the road. The impact also caused the vehicles to ignite in flames. There were bystanders in the area who witnesses the accident and rushed to help the victims from the fiery accident before emergency personnel arrived. They managed to help two people get out of their vehicles.
Emergency personnel quickly arrived at the scene. Firefighters worked to help free additional people still trapped in their vehicles. Firefighters also worked quickly to extinguish the flames fearing that the vehicles may explode. Paramedics tended to the injured and rendered aid to all parties. A female driver of one of the vehicles is reported to have sustained leg injuries but is expected to survive. She was transported to the hospital for further care.
A passenger in the Tesla sadly sustained very severe injuries and died as a result. They were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Their identity has not been released at this time pending notification of their next of kin. The driver of the Tesla is reported to have sustained critical injuries and was transported to the hospital.
The authorities are still investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the crash and the events leading up to the collision. Police believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in this accident and are considering DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges against the driver of the Tesla based on their initial investigations.
We offer our sincere condolences to the deceased victim’s family.
Our thoughts are also with the other victims injured in this accident. We hope for their full recovery.
Driving while impaired is extraordinarily negligent behavior. Drinking alcohol or using other drugs impairs one’s decision-making ability, decreases reaction times, and negatively affects all senses. When drivers are engaging in negligent and risky behaviors such as drinking and driving, the chance of a serious accident increases dramatically. In California, it is illegal for any person to operate a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08% or higher, if the person is 21 years old or older, or 0.01% if the person is under 21 years old.
Losing a loved one is never easy to experience, and this is especially the case when their passing is the result of a drunk driver. If someone you love was killed in an accident caused by someone else’s reckless actions, it’s important to hold the at-fault person responsible. When you lose a loved one, we know that no amount of money could replace that person’s presence in your life. However, filing a wrongful death suit against a negligent party can ensure that you get justice for your deceased family member and can help you to cope with their loss.
