Fatal Car Accidents in California

Los Angeles and the surrounding areas are some of the busiest and most dangerous metropolitans in the country. Californians have long commutes on the congested roadways. Further adding to the dangerous commute, many motorists speed in California and break other traffic laws, to avoid being stuck in the backlog of commuters. In 2018, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that more than 3,500 people were killed in fatal car accidents in California. This number has increased each year, even throughout the covid-19 pandemic. There are many reasons for accidents to happen in California, including texting while driving, speeding, impaired driving, or simply failing to yield or stop at traffic lights and stop signs. Research indicates that more than one-third of all road fatalities in the US are caused by reckless driving.
