San Juan Capistrano, CA – One Killed in Crash on 5 FWY
San Juan Capistrano, CA (January 6, 2022) – On Thursday afternoon, January 4, a crash was reported in San Juan Capistrano that killed at least one person.
According to California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 3:45 p.m. on the southbound 5 Freeway, near State Route 73. The accident occurred when at least two vehicles collided on the freeway for unknown reasons. The vehicles were described as a Honda sedan and another unknown sedan. The Honda is reported to have sustained serious front-end damage due to the impact. The vehicles blocked multiple lanes of traffic
Emergency personnel was called to the scene. It is reported that one person suffered catastrophic injuries and sadly died at the scene of the accident. The name of the victim has not been released at this time. There is no information at this time as to whether anyone else sustained injuries in the crash.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and the events leading up to the impact. The accident caused the area to be shut down for many hours as crews tended to the victims and cleared the accident.
